5$ happy hour margs are in a pint glass and use fresh ingredients. Parillada fajitas for one is massive and everything was delicious. Never had the chicharon with guacamole and that's officially an app I will order wherever I see it. Also their beans, refried, were super garlicky and I loved that.. made them really stand out. All over 10/10. Hope they get some better signage (and I'd love to paint their windows) cause it's easy to miss and you'd never know how big the space is.

Came in on a Saturday at 2 pm and it was not crowded yet. The food was amazing!!! I am a Mexica food foodie and this is now my go-to!!! Had combo fajitas for 2 which it's more than 2 can handle and very fresh meats, chicken, steak, sausage and we opted to try the pastor as an added side and I would highly recommend it!! Margaritas are a 10 out of 10. Service felt like it was a family member taking care of us. You can feel the pride of the owners from the minute you walk in and are greeted with a big smile and a welcome. Don't skip this place.

I had the pleasure of being blessed by the sweet family who owns this fine establishment by making me the perfect batch of chicken tortilla soup when I was sick with the flu. They were kind enough to customize the order and make sure the soup would be nutritious and healing and it did the trick! The food at El Viejon is delicious and the service spectacular. They have a wide variety of food options as well as a very welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty of parking and it is a great place to meet with a group or any special gathering you may wish to have and are open late. I can't rave about this place enough - definitely worth the stop and the hype! <3

Great service, music and food!! They have mariachi on Friday nights and the vibe is amazing! Servers are nice and the flavor is really good!

What can I say other than this place has some absolutely DELICIOUS food! Went here for the first time and my wife and mother-in-law were in agreement. The salsa is homemade by this lovely older lady, whose son is the chef! The chips and salsa was great! The green salsa is their spicy one, it had really good flavor, but my spice tolerance withstood it very well. The red salsa was mild, but flavorful. The queso was also delicious! The steak fajitas were absolutely amazing and tender! And even their beans and rice is delicious! I cannot recommend this place enough! Absolutely delicious! UPDATE: They were amazing and brought out a dessert for my mother in law for her birthday, but she couldn’t have it because she can’t do gluten. It’s also apparently not on the menu yet. But, they apologized and brought her out a flan that looks and tastes absolutely amazing! PERFECT flan! Wonderfully creamy, beautifully balanced flavor and sweetness! Oh my goodness I’ve found my new favorite Mexican restaurant!!!

Me and the gf decided to try new places around Denton and I have been wanting an authentic Gordita like literally craving it … this satisfied it !! They made the masa fresh so it took a minute but they did let me know before hand just in case we didn’t have time, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious !! The green sauce was fantastic and the chips were perfect and not too thin where they break to pieces . Top tier service as they checked on us made sure we didn’t need anything but, weren’t overly intrusive and rushing and giving us our space. We will be returning customers for sure . So glad we found this place. It’s like something we would get from my girlfriend’s home.

Hey! Red from Render Texas Delicatessen , yesterday I saw someone mention El Viejon and posted food that looked like I needed that NOW. Mind you l was doom scrolling at 2am so food had to wait.... I have been absolutely non-stop thinking about runny refried beans, you know, the kind that takes up half the plate and runs into everything. Exactly what the picture showed and the queso looked 10/10. I went to bed thinking about this place I made sure Chef and I went for lunch. Oh. My. God. -Salsa was perfect with chips that pair wonderfully (I got a bag to take home with left overs) -Queso was delicious and HELD ITS HEAT! Sorcery is the only explanation. It's flavor profile gives a peppery white american blend. -Asada Corn tacos (I believe you can mix up the meats if you wanted) Heaven, I died and went to heaven. I loaded those bad boys up with the fixins and I could drink that green sauce if they would let me. I swapped the charro beans for the refried beans and they did not disappoint, exactly what I was looking for -Chef practically licked the bowl clean on the Fajita Chicken Protein Bowl. We WILL be back. I could not be happier with this restaurant. Immediately went and added them to my voted for list for Best of Denton while I was waiting for the check. Absolutely love the atmosphere,food,and service! It’s a family owned business and they work hard to provide you with quality food and a good time! They have a mariachi night! So much fun! They even did a karaoke night! I love that it’s a family friendly too so don’t hesitate to bring the kids out! If you’re looking for a good margarita hand sound they won’t let you down and let’s talk about their Michelada’s! Best in town! Definitely worth trying! I really wish I would’ve took a picture of my torta too!
